Knowledge, Technology and Freedom

And how they are now connected

For most of history, true freedom has been a privilege of a select few.

Slaves were owned by their masters, farmers were forced to give most of their crops to landlords and today we sacrifice 40 hours a week to support our most basic needs.

At the surface level, this progression may seem like a consistent improvement, but that would be the equivalent of claiming that a man with one dollar in his pocket is richer than a man with zero dollars. Technically true, but it's a negligible difference.

What has shown consistent improvement at a measurable rate is our optionality in ways to achieve freedom.

Slaves had no such options, and farmers could at best go into a trade to try and become bourgeois. But today we have more ways to achieve freedom at our disposal than ever before.

This is what Naval Ravikant calls 'permissionless leverage'.

So the first step in achieving your freedom today is to gain enough knowledge to be able to use permissionless leverage to create the life you want to live.

The two forms of permissionless leverage Naval talks about are code and media. You can write code that is used by millions of users. You can make a video that is watched by millions of people. Nobody needs to give you permission to do either.

But there is one 3rd form that didn't start as permissionless but became so more recently. That is Artificial Intelligence (AI).

With the release of open-source models, AI has truly become available to the masses and all evidence suggests it will continue to go in that direction.

This represents a revolution in our ability to earn freedom because AI represents the highest form of leverage: general purpose leverage.

With the help of AI you can write code faster, generate ideas for videos and automate almost any boring task. AI can help you craft the exact life you want to live by, allowing you to focus only on the things you want to spend time on.

So while most people are scared that machine learning models will take their jobs away, you should be rejoicing to live in a time where you have near-infinite leverage to get out of the hamster wheel that most of humanity has lived in. This is an unprecedented opportunity, and you are one of the lucky few to have the chance to take it.

My goal is to help you achieve the same that I did: live life in your own terms, working on the things that you are interested in while becoming the sovereign individual of the 21st century.

Freedom is the highest form of human existence and is now at the reach of anyone willing to think outside the box. I dare you step out of conventional thinking and reach your dreams. It's easier than you think.
